Wednesday, July 15, 1931 At the Hotel Commodore in New York. Very hot and muggy. Had breakfast alone. Looked at Standard Wall Paper Co. line this morning. Charlie Slocumb showed me and I had lunch with him. Looked at York Card this afternoon. Lou Steele showed it. I also visited Maralia Lennen W.P. Co. Rex Paste and Haron Milling Co. came up to room. Changed all my clothes, which were wringing wet, had a lovely shower, and went out to dinner alone. Then went over to the Empire Theatre and saw Katherine Carnell and Brian Aherne play "The Barretts of Wimpole Street". It was just wonderful. So very English.
