At New York, Hotel Commodore. The air is clearer today but it is very hot. Looked over the lines of York Wall Paper Co. and Stamford Wall Paper Co. this morning. Had lunch with the New York Rotary Club in this hotel. They insisted that I sit at the head table, an honor not often accorded to a past district governor. This afternoon, I called at the rooms of The Thibant Co., then visited the Waltex Company, then finished the lines by looking at the Hobbs line, shown by George Hanbury. We had dinner together at Schrafts on 5th Avenue then walked down to 34th St. and made the trip to the top of the new Empire State Building. We went up 79 stories in sixty seconds then changed elevators and went up to the 102nd floor. The city and environs were spread out below like fairy land.
