Saturday, July 18, 1931 Home again and it seems so good to be here. It was so quiet this morning after noisy New York that I slept late. Got to the office about 8-30. Found everything in good shape. Mrs. Wood had taken care of all important matters. Worked till about two o'clock. Got some lunch down town. Went up to "Frank's". Got a watermellon, some red raspberries, and some sweet corn, the first of the season, and came out home. It began to rain and poured all afternoon and evening. Tessie and I drove up to the Hamden Post Office and got a package for Sally. Sent to her by Bert and Jess from Panang. Straight settlements. We paid $1.25 duty on it and the manifest was marked "One 1/2 lb wool garments" so we guess it is something for Sally's baby.
