Wednesday, July 22, 1931 Very much better air today. Clear but very warm. Drove into town this morning. After taking care of things in the office, I came out home, called for Tessie, and drove to the Springfield store. We ate lunch at Hotel Kimball. Met Mr. and Mrs. Forest Perkins of Providence there. They are old Rotary friends. Paul Keiser called at the Springfield store to see me. he is our new District Governor. We stopped at Mrs. Newell's on the way home. She had had a letter form Muriel, who had landed in Europe with Philip and the baby in fine shape. Mr. and Mrs. Newell felt dreadfully to have the baby go. We came home and had supper here. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chamberlain called tonight and showed us their brand new Cadillac Eight. It's a beauty.
