Friday, July 24, 1931 More rain this morning with a terrific thunder shower and deluge of rain at 5-30 this afternoon. Working on the top floor today getting the new wall paper sample books ready to start selecting next week. Most of the lines are in but no prices yet. Very hot and humid up there. Went down town this afternoon. The heavy shower came up quickly. I made a rush for a Westville trolly to get back to the store. Harley landed on the same car. It was pouring so hard when we got to York Street that we rode all the way out to Westville and back to Broadway before we could get off. Storm did some damage to our plants. I tied up a lot of our dahlias that had gotten blown over. Also some hollyhocks at the back door.
