Tuesday, July 28, 1931 Much hotter today. Official thermometer 95° but many on the street recorded up to 100°. Mr. Chamberlain and I worked on the top floor of the York St. building selecting wallpaper for the new line and it was plenty hot up there. We had no Rotary luncheon this noon at the Taft. This is the day of our outing at Harry Brown's farm out in Southbury. I could not go as both Mrs. Wood and Miss Radcliffe are on their vacations. I planned to stay at the office so that Harley could go but at the last minute, he decided it was too hot to go. Home tonight and I worked on my speach for Friday at Springfield, our Rotary District assembly.
