Monday, June 1, 1931 A tremendous drop in temperature from the heat wave of the past four days. We had a fire in teh furnace at the store and wood fires in both fireplaces at home. Peter cut a window in the back wall of the house from the attic to make a circulation through the attic. He fitted the frame window and all. Then painted it to match the house. It is going to make our bed rooms on the second floor much cooler. Luncheon meeting of the committee who are to arrange the party for the Border Veterans of the New Haven Grays. We met at the church wall tea room. Had supper down town tonight and attended meeting of "Board" of Calvary Church. H.S. Palmer elected moderator and Horace Burgess vice chairman. Voted the money to roof over the tower where the steeple has just been removed. Alfred Grant and grandmother spent the night with us.
