Thursday, March 19, 1931 Mother and Sarah came in town and we three had lunch together at the Church Wall Tea House. Saw Lota Curtiss there. She is home from Smith College for the Spring vacation. We then took mother up to Dr. Baldwins. She has a badly bloodshot eye. He said a tiny blood vessel had burst. We then drove over to the new Sterling Library at Yale and spent the afternoon there. It is beyond description, both in size and beauty. We saw hundreds of rare books, including the Guttenberg Bible. I went back to the office to get off my mail. Mother and Sarah came home. I had dinner at the Hotel Taft, being the annual meeting of the New Haven Paint and Oil Club. Harold Law brought me home in his car.
