Tuesday, May 12, 1931 More rain today. Attended Rotary Club luncheon at Hotel Taft. A young man, a Y.M.C.A. worker from Berlin, Germany, was the speaker of the day. he told of the unemployment situation over there. Said of the sixty million population, over five million were out of work. Tessie met me in town and we had supper at Longley's Restaurant on Elm Street. We then went to the Paramount Theatre to the movies. We received letters from both the Calvins and the Gunns also Dick Dodge telling us of the good time they had at the Rotary Conference. O, yes, from the Kiesers also. We also had a letter from Alice Drew. This is Violette's and Clayton's anniversary thirty fifth.
