Cloudy all day long but quite warm. Misty and fog tonight. Attended Rotary Club of New Haven at Hotel Taft. Luncheon held in Ball Room and each Rotarian was privileged to invite an Italian citizen to the meeting to hear Prov. Breckenridge of Yale speak on the "Glories of Italy". I took Julius Marearelli with me. We held a store meeting tonight at six o'clock at which every one of our employees were in attendance. Harley announced to them the need of our cutting our payroll five percent, asking them to accept this reduction and also to take two weeks vacation this Summer at their own expense. They accepted the proposition in fine spirit. Home tonight to dinner and for the evening.
