Wednesday, May 20, 1931 Better weather today. More like Spring. Harley went to Springfield store today and talked over the need of reducing our overhead in that store as well as in New Haven and they agreed to the same proposition as our New Haven group did. That is 5% reduction in salary and that they take two weeks vacation at their own expense. We sincerely hope that this awful depression in business will soon lift and that we can go back to our regular pay rolls soon. Had supper at Calvary Church tonight. This was followed by the annual meeting of the church. We finished the year with a small balance in the treasury with all bills paid and no indebtedness. I was elected to the "Board" and made chairman of the Hospitality Committee.
