Wednesday, November 4, 1931 A beautiful day, clear as a bell and not too cool. After taking care of my mail at the office, I left with Harley for Springfield. Fred Skeen of Geo. D. Wetherill Co. went with us. We had lunch at the Hotel Kimball then drove up to Northampton and called on J. Hugh Pierce and had a conference with him about his paint sales and store arrangements. Drove down to Westfield, Mass. Called on the Bryan Hardware Co. They took us to dinner to the Strathmore Inn at Woronoco. We had a fine duck dinner. Came back to Westfield and to the Bryan store. Had a conference there then came down the College Highway. Harley left me in Spring Glen and took Fred Skeen to the station for a sleeper for Washington. Tessie took Ruth Chandler and drove to Middletown to the funeral of Mr. Bliss, Ruth's grandfather.
