Very warm today, almost like Summer. I took the Packard in town with me this morning. Went right down to the Gamble Desmond store and spoke to the employees at 9 A.M. for the Community Chest. The campaign for $838,074.00, which started last night. Left the store at 11 A.M. and drove to Meriden and spoke before the Meriden Rotary Club for the Conn. Master Painters Association. Called on the Chittenden store and drove back to New Haven. Ran out of gasoline halfway between Meriden and Wallingford. Had to walk half a mile to get some. Home to dinner tonight and for the evening.
