Thursday, November 12, 1931 Cloudy and showery. Drove in to the store. Took care of my mail and loaded the Packard with goods that Springfield needed and called here for Tessie and drove to the Springfield store. I had lunch at the Hotel Kimball with the Wall Paper Dealers of Springfield. Tessie had her lunch downtown. After our meeting, Harry Fitch and I drove over to Westfield and called on the Bryan Hardware Co. Back to Springfield and Tessie and I came home. Had dinner here. We listened tonight to a broadcast from Madison Square Garden, New York where 20,000 people had gathered in a great meeting, preparatory to a campaign to raise eighteen million dollars in New York for the unemployed. Ex. Governor Al Smith heads the committee. A massed band of 550 men played and a chorus of 1200 men sang.
