Thursday, October 1, 1931 Another lovely day, cool and brisk. We got up at the New Ocean House Swampscott, Mass. Had breakfast and welcomed the Rotarians and their families as they arrived. Luncheon at 12-30. I, as chairman of the Conclave, presided. The afternoon was taken up with playing golf, tennis, and other games. We held a reception this afternoon for District Governor Paul and Portia Kieser. Dinner tonight at which I again presided. I introduced all special guests, Governor Paul Kieser, and 1st Vice Prest. Robert E. Haven were the speakers. We adjourned to the Ball Room and to the Bridge Parlors till 12 o'clock and then the Past District Governors and their wives went up to the Kieser's rooms for refreshments. We have about 260 registered here, which is a small number in comparison to about 400 last year. But the depression hit some of our people hard.
