Monday, October 5, 1931 Woke up on board "The North Shore Limited" coming in to Chicago. Arrived twenty minutes ahead of time. Took a taxi to the Congress Hotel to attend the annual of the National Wholesalers Ass'n. Wrote a letter to Tessie and sent it off air mail. All morning session. Luncheon in next room. I called up Peter Barker at St. Paul and just caught him. He was glad to hear about Sally and little Peter. I called Mrs. Arthur Wilby and asked them to have dinner with me tomorrow night. She accepted. At the afternoon session of our meeting, we unanimously voted to change the making of our Sample Books with plain pieces instead of code and to reduce the discount to 33 1/3%. We had our annual dinner this evening at the Congress Hotel. Afterwards, I took a walk up Michigan Ave. and back. World Series Philadelphia 2, St. Louis 5 at Philadelphia. The third game.
