Saturday, October 17, 1931 Clear and cool. No frost yet and we are glad as we our dahlias are lovely. I went out tonight practically after dark and cut a big basket full of blooms for fear of frost. Worked all day at the store. Had a meeting of salesmen and outlined to them the new plan of carrying Wetherills stocks. Had lunch with Harley in Longley's. No football game at Yale bowl today. Yale is playing Chicago, Ill. in Chicago. The first time a Yale football team has ever played in the middle west. The event was arranged to play honor to Amos Alonzo Stagg, a former Yale athlete now 69 years old, who for forty years has had charge of athletics at the University of Chicago. They gave a dinner at Hotel Stevens last night. 2000 Yale men attended. "Billy" Phelps was toastmaster. Yale won the game 27 to 0. Harvard beat Army at West Point 14 to 13. Cornell beat Princeton 33 to 0. [Prev](1931_10_16.md) - [Next](1931_10_18.md) <img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1NNbQR8QZIT_gFdRRftAZ3Ew5lWBsjxvX">
