This has been a day of great events and I will only have room for brief mention. In the first place, the weather is just fine. Today is the day of the Yale - Army football game. The Cadet Corps came into town, had lunch at the Yale Dining Hall, then marched to the Bowl. The game ended 6 to 6, which was good for Yale as Army was expected to win easily. One of the Army ends, Cadet Richard B. Sheriden of Augustus, Georgia, broke his neck in the game. Tessie and I did not go to the game as we drove to Springfield to attend a dinner and meeting to meet and hear Sydney W. Pascall, president of Rotary International of England. The dinner was held at Hotel Kimball, the mass meeting at the auditorium. We are to spend the night at the home of District Governor Paul W. Kieser. The George Washington Bridge across the Hudson River at New York was dedicated today. It is the largest suspension bridge in the world and cost $60,000,000 dollars. Took 4 1/2 years to build.
