We awoke at the home of District Governor Paul W. Kieser in Longmeadow, Mass. The morning was hot and muggy but a hard thunder shower this afternoon cleared the air. Paul Kieser, Jerry Wood, and I went down to the Hotel Kimball, Springfield. Met Dick Dodge there and we all had breakfast with president Sydney Pascall of England. It was so nice to know him in this intimate way. We all went down to the station where Portia Kieser, Mrs. Wood, and Tessie joined us and we bade him goodbye for Boston. Paul and I worked all the morning packing up the gifts that the 30th District Clubs made to Sydney. We had dinner with the Kiesers, wished them goodbye, went over and called on Olive Crittenden. Found them away then called on the Newells and then drove down home. Traffic very heavy. Found my furnace fire had kept since 3 o'clock yesterday.
