Rain all day long and we need it badly. Paul Kieser here with us to breakfast. Left at seven a.m. for his office in Springfield, Mass. I drove in town, dictated a lot of letters, had lunch at P. Ring's on Elm Street, then drove up to Hartford Conn. to see Mr. Hoffman of the Hoffman Wall Paper Co. regarding the new way of marking Sample Books. He had been taken home with a bad heart attack. I drove back to New Haven via Meriden and Wallingford, stopped at Driesbachs Art Store on State Street. A photo of myself that I had left there to be framed. I am going to give it to Tessie tomorrow on her birthday. She does not feel very well, has had intestinal grippe all the week. Hope she will soon feel better.
