A beautiful day. Very warm in the sun. We got up and had breakfast. Then I drove in to Calvary Church to service. Mr. Blanton was back and preached for the first time since his vacation. We had a good congregation too for the Sunday before Labor Day. It was our Communion Sunday and I was asked to assist as many of our Deacons were away. I have served in our church in almost every capacity but I had never served at the communion service before. Mr. and Mrs. Newell of Springfield came down and we took them over to the hospital to see Sally and the baby. They were pleased to find them so well. We drove from there up top of East Rock and viewed the city and from there down to Wilcox's for lobsters. The Newells did enjoy them so much.
