Thursday, September 10, 1931 Fearfully hot today. Thermometer up over 93°. We all got up early this morning, had breakfast, and Peter and Roy Stransky started off in their Ford Coupe to drive to Chicago and then to St. Paul. It has been very hot for them. Tessie called for me at 2-30 P.M. and we drive over to the New Haven Hospital and brought Sarah and Little Peter and Miss Burritt over to our home. I had put the American Flag out this morning so as to celebrate the first visit of grandson to our home. Sarah stood the trip in good shape. We got her right to bed and put Peter in his basket crib that had been used by his mother and many other Hodges babies. He looks so cute in it. I had supper in town then attended a board meeting at Calvary Church. Wire from Peter says he arrived in Niagara Falls at 9 o'clock tonight.
