Monday, January 11, 1932 Harley and I attended a luncheon at Hotel Taft this noon of the Wholesale Distributers of New Haven called by the Chamber of Commerce. We held a meeting at the office this afternoon and invited in the heads of each department and discussed how best we could reduce our expenses. After discussing many savings, the store and office forces agreed to take a 10% salary cut. Also made several suggestions how other savings could be made. We hate to have to do this but our business is so poor we just had to do something. I worked till late on my Wall Paper records.
