Monday, January 18, 1932 Rather fine day. Not too hot, not too cold. Busy all day at the office getting out our Wall Paper books and orders. Had a long letter from Tessie today as this is my 56 birthday. She is expecting to leave St. Paul tomorrow and spend a day or two in Chicago and arrive home Friday or Saturday. I shall be mighty glad to have her at home. I received many greetings of good will on my birthday. Violette gave me a silk muffler. Tessie and Sally, "The Life of Leonard Wood", two volumes. Alice and Fred Lockwood, "The Epic of America". "Auntie B." wrote me a lovely letter and sent a hand knitted face cloth. We held the annual meeting and dinner of the New Haven Council Boys Scouts at the Quinnipiack Club tonight. 150 men present. --- (Vernon included [a birthday card from Lota](<Birthday Letter from Lota, 1932.md>) and [a birthday telegram from the Rotary Club](<Birthday Telegram from Rotary Club, 1932.md>).)
