Wednesday, January 27, 1932 Poured hard all night. High wind all day but temperature high. More like a day in March. Had lunch down town this noon. Got the snapshots that mother took of Little Peter out at St. Paul. They were pretty good considering the cloudy weather. Harley went to Springfield on the train. He was afraid of icy roads up there. Tessie went down and called on Ruth Chandler this afternoon. She is living in an apartment on Orange Street. She called for me and we had dinner at home. The M2 British submarine dived yesterday and did not come up in Portland, an English harbor. She had 54 men aboard. Grave fears are held for their lives. Emma Leary has vacated the store in the Taft Hotel, corner of Chapel and College Streets, and it will be occupied by the Western Union Telegraph Co.
