Saturday, January 30, 1932 Rained nearly all day long. Mr. Page and Mr. Fitch came down from the Springfield Store and we held a salesmen's meeting practically all day long. I went over to Mrs. Joseph Hugh's funeral at Beecher and Bennett's. She died of pneumonia. Ill only a few days. "Colly" and Beo Davis with little Terry and Baby Pam drove up from Plainfield, N.J. to spend the weekend with us. "Colly" drove in and took me out home. We looked around the Yale Law School and in the Yale Library for a few minutes. We all had dinner together and it was so nice to have them. The baby, whom we had never seen, is a dear. Newspapers say that China has declared war on Japan, the result of Japan's landing troops in China and destroying property and lives.
