Clear and not too cold. "Polly" came in to the office again today and helped me in Mrs. Wood's place. We finished the inventory today and that is a great relief. I had lunch at P. Ring's then, at 2-30, we started for the Springfield store in Frank Spaulding's car. He drove and Ray Hall and Bert Hevrin and I went with him. We went up via Middletown, Portland, East Hartford. Harley drove his car and took Franklin, Frank Behling, and Charlie Gorham with him. Mr. Matlack and Fred Skeen of the George D. Wetherill Co. were there and we all had supper at the Waldorf. Then gathered in the Springfield store and discussed business prospects for the new year. We came back to New Haven afterwards, arriving home at midnight.
