Clear and cold today. Tessie rested this morning and I drove in town. Had breakfast at Longley's. Harley and I attended Rotary luncheon of the New Haven Club at Hotel Taft. Our own Richard Clapp spoke on "Washington". He gave us a great talk. I drove home to dinner and spent the evening here. Sarah called us up tonight from St. Paul, Minnesota. Her cold is much better and she announced to us all that Peter Hodges Barker had his first tooth through. he will be six months old on Friday next, the twenty-sixth. She told us that the thermometer was down to seven below zero. Some cold. This was Mother's birthday today. She would have been 84 years old. She died at the age of 34.
