Peter Hodges Barker is just six months old today. How we would like to squeeze him. Mother is writing them a long letter tonight. It is much warmer today, thermometer 40°. I went in to the office, took care of my mail, then took the 10-30 train for Springfield store. Went over to the Hotel Kimball and attended the luncheon of the Springfield Rotary Club. Sat at table with Paul Kieser and Al Colvin of New London. Afterwards, we had a conference together regarding the next District Governor. I went down on Main Street and saw the ruins of a big business block, gutted by fire. Came home on 4-30 train. Many Smith College girls on the train, coming down to the Yale Junior Prom.
