Friday, March 4, 1932 Beautiful day today. Went in to the office then found I had better go to Springfield store. So called Tessie, had her bring the car in, and we drove up to Springfield store. Had lunch at Hotel Kimball. Stopped at Mrs. Newells on our way home and found that she had been ill for three weeks. Showed us some fine pictures of Muriel's baby, taken in Stockholm. We came on down home and had dinner here. All newspapers and all radio announcers giving rumors and supposed clues regarding the Lindbergh kidnapping case. No news however that is authentic. "Lindy" and Ann made public a letter praying that their baby be returned to them and that they would pay any amount and no questions asked. No response up to midnight.
