A showery April day. Still quite cool. I went in to Calvary Church on the nine o'clock Waterbury trolly car. Taught my mens class and attended church service later. We started to raise our budget for the New Year beginning May first. Mr. Blanton preached a wonderful sermon on "Why I Give". It was the most helpful effort that we have had from a pastor in a long time. Afterwards, we took our pledges up and put them in gold boxes. Tessie took Aunt Belle in to St. Paul's Church, called for me, then we came home, had dinner here, then took Aunt Belle up to Plainsville to visit some relatives. Newspapers say that Lindbergh paid the $50,000.00 ransom and the kidnapper double crossed him and would not give the baby up.
