Wednesday, April 27, 1932 Much colder today and quite heavy snow flurries. Tessie said the ground out here in Hamden was covered white. Met Carl Northrup, Rev. Mr. Brown of Spring Glen Church, and Gordon Stevens at Clark Hall and Peck's office and talked over the matter of "Cubbing". Hurried back to the store and met all our men employees and but before them the plan of having them take one day a week off at their own expense to cut down expenses. They agreed to it heartily and with a fine spirit of cooperation, for which Harley and I am truly grateful. I went down to Calvary Church to supper then called a meeting of my nominating committee and we worked along on our plans. Came home on the trolly car. It was mighty cold on the corner of Church and Chapel Streets, with the thermometer down to 34°.
