Sunday, June 5, 1932 A beautiful day but very hot. We all arose early, had breakfast, then leaving baby Peter with Peggy, Tessie, Sally, Mary Frances Stout, and I started in the Packard for Northampton to hear Lota Curtiss play the chimes. We met Harley, Alice, and Mother Smith. Violette and Clayton and Buddy Wicks and Peter all met on the Smith College campus. Lota came soon and took us all up to the belfry and we watched and heart her play a program of hymns on the bells in the tower of one of the college buildings. She was so wonderful and a lovely program. We then all drove out to Northampton and had a picnic lunch on the banks of a brook. We drove home, stopped in Westfield to see Lucy. Ed and Alice Cole came out and we all had a little supper together. Such a happy day.
