Terrific drop in temperature. Thermometer down to 40°. Lower in some parts of the state and brought quite heavy frosts. The coldest June day in many years. Heavy run on the Mechanics Bank. They have paid all comers up to three o'clock today but it has been a heavy drain. Tessie and Peggy brought Peter Hodges Barker down to the store so Uncle Harley could see him. He thought he was a fine boy. Peter and Sally, Ed and Alice Cole left early this morning in Ed's car for a few days trip up into Vermont. We are enjoying the care of Peter. So cold tonight that we had to have fireplace fires.
