Rather unexpectedly, I went to the Springfield store. I took Tessie along with me. We had lunch at the Kimball Hotel. They have reduced the price of their luncheon from $1.00 to 65¢. Tessie went out to call on Mrs. Newell and I called for her there. Heavy showers all the way home. Sarah had supper ready for us, which was most thoughtful of her. Later, Mother, Sarah, and I drove over to Marvel Road in Westville and took some canned goods over to the Blantons, our pastor at Calvary Church. They have just moved from West Rock Ave. Hoover and Curtiss were renominated at the Republican Convention at Chicago.
