Cloudy early but cleared later. We closed the stores at one o'clock for the first time this year. The retail stores down town are not going to close either Wednesday or Saturday this year. The chain stores are to blame. Harley received a letter from Bert Hodges dated Colchester, England telling us that good old Percy passed away about two weeks ago. He did not wait long after his mother's going. Harley called Violette on the phone and told her about it. She was pretty well broken up as she loved him like a brother. He was so fine. I am so thankful that Sarah had a chance to go to England and know him and Auntie too. I went down and spent a long evening with sister. She does feel so badly.
