Warm again today but not as hot as yesterday. A good cool breeze blowing. Had lunch this noon at Waldorf Lunch, cor. Chapel St. and High Streets. Did several errands down town. T.P.H. called for me at six o'clock and we had dinner at home. Miss. Burritt, who was Sarah's nurse when Peter was born, had dinner with us. I spent the evening wetting down the lawns and shrubs. It is so dry. We do need rain so badly. Peter drove down from Stockbridge tonight after the show. He will take Sarah back with him tomorrow. President Hoover voluntarily asked that his salary be reduced from $75,000.00 per year to $60,000.00 as an economy measure. He suggested that all cabinet officers take a 15% cut from their salaries of $15,000.00.
