Very much cooler after the hard thunder shower of last night. We got up and had breakfast then dressed baby Peter. Packed up his personal ice box, etc, and drove up to Springfield to visit the Newells and so that Mrs. Newell might see Peter before sailing with Charles Jr. on Friday next for Sweden to see Muriel and Phil and Newell. She was so glad to see him and thought he was a fine boy (which pleased his grandparents very much). He was such a good boy on the whole trip. Charles Jr. has just been operated for hernia. We arrived home about eight. We put Peter right to bed. We had supper up in the living room then I worked till midnight on my paper for tomorrow at Hartford.
