Well, well, well. This is our darling Peter Hodges Barker's very first birthday and he is so well and happy, for which we are the most thankful. His daddy drove down from Stockbridge after the show so as to be able to say "Happy Birthday" to his first born on his birthday. His mother and grandmother arranged a party for him this afternoon and invited Jane Clark and Elizabeth Hall Thompson and all of our adult family, Auntie B, Violette and Lota, Mrs. Smith, Alice, and Lois, Mary Hall Thompson, Miss Burritt (the nurse), Alice and Fred Lockwood. I came home to lunch as a special event so as to see him. Bert Hodges landed in New York today from England. He will come to New Haven tomorrow. I drove to Winsted to the Boy Scout camp to speak at their final banquet. Alice Drew stayed with us all night.
