About the hottest day of the year. Thermometer in our office was 86° and on the top floor, where I was working on my Wall Paper selections, it was 95°. I could not stand it after four o'clock so came down stairs. The humidity today has been terrific. Way up in the nineties. Tessie took Sarah up to Hartford this afternoon to a party given by Dottie Stiles for a group of old Gateway girls. They took little Peter with them and he was much admired by them all. Tessie, Sarah, and I had dinner here and we spent the evening together talking while Peter slept soundly in his crib, bless his heart. Sally and I went down to the drug store and brought home some ice cream, which we three enjoyed very much.
