George Steele of the Imperial Wall Paper Co. called today. I attended the luncheon of the New Haven Rotary Club at the Hotel Taft. Ed Root spoke on the state prison. This was the 116th anniversary of the New Haven Grays. The committee changed the usual plans and did not arrange for the usual afternoon outing but confined the celebration to an evening banquet at the New Haven Yacht Club at 6-30. About one hundred Actives and Veterans attended. Senator Huram Bingham and States Attorney Samuel E. Hoyt were the guest speakers. Captain Dorr called on me at the end but my voice was so hoarse that I could hardly say a word. Violette's birthday today. Tessie and I called there and left a package for Harley and me.
