Wednesday, September 28, 1932 Rained up to early afternoon here. It must have cleared off a bit earlier in New York as the first game of the World Series Base Ball started at one o'clock. The teams playing this year are The Chicago ("Cubs") of the National League and the New York ("Yankees") of the American League. New York won the first game 12 to 6. They play in New York again tomorrow. I went down to Calvary Church to lunch today. The ladies were staging a luncheon to raise some money. Tessie and I had dinner at home then went up to Hamden Town Hall to a meeting of the Hamden Chamber of Commerce to hear Prof. Hudson Hastings speak on "Economics".
