Saturday, October 1, 1932 A bit warmer this morning with light showers. I picked a large basket of dahlias this morning and took them in town with me. Then later, took them up to Miss Radcliffe, who has been ill for more than a week. I had lunch downtown then went out to the Yale Bowl to see the opening football game between Yale and Bates. They played a tie game 0 to 0. Bates was heavy and strong and Yale was fearfully unorganized. Mal Stevens is head coach this year and John Wilbur is captain. The New York "Yankees" won from the Chicago "Cubs" for the third straight game 7 to 5 in Chicago today in the World Series.
