Saturday, October 8, 1932 Very cold this morning. Thermometer 34°. No frost however and it warmed up very rapidly during the day. Mr. Valentine at the store today. Went through the Ronkonkoma line with us. I made up the pay roll today. Miss Radcliffe is out sick and Harley's eye bothers him badly. I had lunch at Longley's then went out to the Yale Bowl to see Yale play Chicago. I sat with Ed Cole in Portal 15. The game ended in a 7 to 7 tie but Chicago played the best game. A.A. Stagg, the Chicago Coach, is an old Yale man and famous base ball pitcher. I had dinner at home then drove out to Fred Halloway's house in Woodbridge and attended a meeting of the "First Sergeants Association" of the New Haven Grays. Had a nice time and took Frank Geiger out to Cheshire. Received Peter Hodges Barker first letter today. 13 months 12 days old.
