Columbus Day. City Hall, schools, and banks closed. All business houses open all day. This noon, I had lunch in Longley's, Broadway, then I walked over to Dr. Baldwin's and paid him $48.00 and on down to Dr. Camp's (dentist) and paid him $76.00, mostly for Tessie's teeth. I paid in cash as I have no checking account at any bank since the Mechanics Bank closed. Went down to Dr. Scarbrough's on Temple Street and was examined for some insurance. Down to Calvary Church to supper tonight. They have reduced the price of this every Wednesday. Evening supper to twenty five cents. It has been thirty five cents since the war time. I remained for the prayer meeting afterwards. Prof. Latourette spoke on his Missionary meeting in Germany last Summer. Clayton and Violette brought me home.
