Rained hard all night and all day. Tessie took me in this morning and we picked up Mr. Clouse and Paul Evarts. Harley and I took the eleven o'clock train for New York and went down to the office of the National Lead Co. #111 Broadway and met with Mr. Sidford of the National Lead. Mr. Matlack of the Geo D. Wetherill Co., Mr. Rho of the Murphy Varnish Co., and talked over the condition of our business. We took the subway up to the Grand Central Station and caught the five o'clock train for home. Tessie met me and Franklin met Harley. Tessie and I came home and had dinner here. The final speeches of the 1932 campaign came over the air. Speaking for President Hoover, Calvin Coolidge spoke from Northampton. Ogden Mills spoke from Washington. Two spoke from Chicago then President Hoover spoke the final word from Elko, Nevada en route to Palo Alto, California to vote.
