Friday, November 18, 1932 A very nice day. I drove in town this morning. Took care of my mail. Came back out home. Tessie and I packed up our suitcase and started for Springfield. Went to the Springfield store then had lunch at Hotel Kimball. Tessie met Mrs. Newell and did some shopping then went out home with her. I called for her there and had a chance to see young Newell Richardson. He is a beautiful boy twenty months old. Went from there to Mrs. Paul Kieser's and dressed for dinner and party of the Springfield Rotary Club celebrating their eighteenth birthday. It was a lovely party. Jimmie Morton sang and Jimmie Gheen of New York spoke. Then Monty Blue (movie star) in person came and told us of his early experiences. Dancing and bridge followed.
