Thermometer down to nine above zero. Did not seem so cold. Tessie took me in town in the Packard. We stopped at the Post Office and mailed a lot of Christmas cards. Harley and I went down to Arthur Chambers' office and talked over our business situation and our desire that he sit in on our meeting tomorrow, when certain important creditors come to New Haven. We closed the York Street store from two thirty to three thirty during the funeral of Mrs. Smith, Alice' mother. Tessie and I took Violette down with us. Seth Taylor was the undertaker. Rev. Roy Boaz conducted the service. The burial was in the Milford Cemetery. I took the bearers down in our Packard. Tessie rode with the Bob Halls.
